My Rawfood Lifestyle

Welcome to My Raw food Lifestyle. In this blog, I shared the edible inspirations from my playtime in the kitchen, and my deep love for whole foods.

The thing about eating healthy, raw and green is, you don’t really have to be a very skilled “chef” to do it. With a little creativity, you could make wonders. I juice, blend, sprout, ferment, marinate, activate, freeze, shape, chop, process, grate, spiralise, roll, dip, mix and dehydrate, raw food is scrumptious and fun to make. I am posting few of my healthy memories in this blog.

Lovely Fruits and Nuts:

Deliciously Nutritious Figs, Oranges and Grapes:

It's all because of the TOPPINGS! Try a variety of Nuts, Seeds, and Super foods in all juices and smoothies:

Allow your weekly purchases to determine your meals for the week. This will provide variety and nutritional balances. I prefer buying organic vegetables.

Eating a variety of food ensures you're getting a wide array of nutrients. I got these leafy vegetables from San Jose Farmers Market.

 Supreme Pleasures: Chilled Fruit Cubes:

Varieties of leaves (Swiss chard especially), Roots, Veggies and Fruits:

Mango, Pineapple:

Juicing: It all starts with getting a good juicer. This is my Breville juicer. My Sweetheart in kitchen.

Breville centrifugal juicers offer the benefit of speed. They are extremely fast. You can make a lot of juice in just a few minutes. They are powerful and relatively easy to clean. I use this juicer in US.

I generally juice with USHA juicer/mixer/grinder when I live in India. Both juicers work extremely great.

If you've never juiced before, don't start out with a bunch of veggies--it might be too strong and you'll be done before you've started. According to "juicing experts", the body wants a ratio of 3:1 veggies: fruit (sugar-wise).

Cucumbers are the best base because they provide a lot of juice and are mild. Try only that with a fruit like apple initially, for the first few times and then add celery, then add kale a few days later. Then your taste buds will get used to it and you can start mixing with other things. Remember, carrots and beets are actually considering high sugar and fall into a fruit category. But better to juice mainly fruits if you just can't juice veggies than to do nothing at all.

If you find veggie too bitter, add a bit of lemon juice and it will cut the bitterness
You can juice leafy greens, but to extract the most juice, bunch it together and put it in with another more "sturdy" veggie, like celery, carrots, etc.

Nutrition Diva: Black Cherries
When we think about high-antioxidant, health-promoting fruits, sometimes Black Cherries are overlooked. Cherries are an excellent food that benefits the heart, brain, and joints, and may even prevent tumor growth and improve the quality of sleep – enjoy them when they are in season!

Sweet, Sour n Juicy Red Plum:

Drink for flat stomach: Ginger Turmeric Cucumber Lemonade:
A Low-calorie food like cucumbers helps you lower your calorie intake to shed pounds..
Ginger will fire up metabolism, prevent constipation and melt unwanted belly fat
Lemon has Ascorbic acid that boosts proper digestion. Its pepsin component helps you benefit more from proteins by burning fat
Curcumin in Turmeric increases Thermogenesis and hence leads to great fat burn.

Varieties of Nuts with Grapes:

Ready for juicing: Liquid nutrition gives instant energy

Artichokes Love: One of my favorite plate meals:

Ice Apple(Thati Munjalu):  In India, one of the fruits you will find on every street corner during summer is the ice apple. The flesh of the nungu fruit is similar to litchi in texture and the taste is similar to fresh coconut.

The more simple your foods are the better you will digest, utilize, absorb and eliminate them and in turn the clearer your mind will be.

Mung Sprouts Salad: Eat sprouted mung beans everyday in the morning and within 4 weeks you will see that your hairfall has reduced and immune system is improved along with several other health benefits.
Making sprouts with mung beans is easy and fast. During sprouting, the trypsin inhibitors, which are commonly present in the raw pulses and delay their digestibility, are also inactivated.
The vitamins -A, B-Complex and C increase rapidly during germination. In mong sprouts the vitamin A content increases by 285%, thiamine by 208%, and riboflavin by an astounding 515% and niacin by 256% and finally Ascorbic acid by 600%. When the seeds sprout, shoots appear earlier than roots. The sprouts are maximally nutritious, if consumed before the roots start emerging. It works wonders."

Sprouts are: a snack, great in stir fry, salads, for tortilla insides, unexpected on pizzas, a powerful juice source, a friend of soup, necessary on sandwiches and the breakfast of champions!
Have fun. Experiment time

Happy Smiling Carrot:

Pomegranates are a beautiful fruit, with shiny red “jewels, "called arils, inside containing sweet juicy nectar surrounding a white seed in the middle.

There’s nothing like fresh berries in the summer. Try them in this refreshing salad, which has an entire day’s worth of vitamin C.

I love papaya and I use them in my green smoothies every chance I get. Their uniquely tropical flavor blends well with other fruits from the region such as pineapple, banana and cantaloupe.

Cantaloupe:  Beauty Fruit.

Variety is important even if it's just the color of the vegetable.

Colorful Fruit Bowl: I’ve been absolutely addicted to this happy bowl of explosive flavor bliss.

Try whole bowl of fruit varieties. I am sure you will soon forget an apple a day

Coconut water is an ideal drink for weight loss. It is low in calories and easy on the stomach. In fact, this light and refreshing drink contains various bioactive enzymes that aid digestion and boost fat metabolism. Plus, coconut water is rich in potassium, which helps balance out sodium.
